Paul Byrne began his oriental journey some
twenty-eight years ago practicing and teaching
martial arts, tai chi, and qi gong. In the mid
eighties Gary Collins, practitioner and columnist
with Irelands Sunday Independent, introduced him to
Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Educated under the governance of the Acupuncture
Foundation of Ireland he studied under Jin Huide and
Wu Jidong, professors of the Nanjing University of
Traditional Chinese Medicine, and went on to gain
certification in Tuina (Chinese Medical Massage) with Dr Meng of Lincoln
University.
In 2004, he went to China to work in the acupuncture
department at First Provincial Hospital, Nanjing,
working under the renowned Professor Qiu Xian Ling,
Chief Physician of the Department of Acupuncture and
Moxibustion.
He has studied Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
at the Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese
Medicine.
Since becoming a licensed practitioner, he has
progressed his studies under Giovanni Maciocia, one
of the most highly respected practitioners of
acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in Europe,
and attended courses with Peter Goldman in Sound
Therapy.
Currently Paul is undertaking postgraduate studies in Qigong and Qi
projection therapy with Prof. Tianjun Liu who is
Professor of Department of acupuncture and Tuina at
Beijing University of TCM, and a consultant Qigong
expert at the Qigong Administration Centre of the
China Sports Commission. In 2007, Paul undertook a further
internship in China where he received Certification
in Advanced Clinical Practice from Dalian Hospital
of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Paul is a founding member of the Zita
West affiliated Network taking an holistic approach
to achieving optimum reproductive health. Covering a
wide range of treatments and approaches to help
boost fertility, enhance IVF, improve pregnancy,
enhance birth outcomes and support post-natal
recovery.

Caoimhe McGlinchey has been
successfully working as an acupuncturist in general
practice since 1998. Caoimhe has continued training
in many branches of Chinese Medicine since qualifying
over a decade ago. Caoimhe treats a variety of
problems in her practice but has specialised in
gynaecology (infertility, menstrual disorders,
pregnacy and menopausal syndrome). Caoimhe treats all
stages of women’s wellness, from enhancing
fertility, assisting IVF/ ICSI cycles, to pregnancy
care, post natal care and menopause. By working in
conjunction with other health caregivers Caoimhe is
able to provide the most comprehensive and effective
care for her patients.
After completing her Science degree from NUI Maynooth Caoimhe began
studying Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in 1995 with
the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland. The course also
included the study of conventional medicine.
Having received her diploma in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine she
undertook postgraduate study in Nanjing, China for 3
months where she worked in 3 different hospitals all
affiliated to Nanjing University of TCM. She then went
on to study Chinese Patent Herbal Medicine, Chinese
Herbal Medicine and Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage)
and has received diplomas in all of the above. As part
of her continuing professional development Caoimhe returns
to China every year
to complete further study in both Acupuncture and
Chinese herbal medicine and has studied under many
consultants especially in the gynaecology area.
She is a registered member of ACHI & AFPA which
have strict codes of ethics and practice.
Caoimhe also lectures in acupuncture point location at the Acupuncture
Foundation of Ireland. She sits on the board of the
ACHI (Association of Chinese Herbalists in Ireland)
and is currently chairperson of the AFPA( Acupuncture
Foundation Professional Association) . She has a
particular interest in increasing recognition for the
practice of Acupuncture and Herbalism
through Regulation from the government. She is board
member on The National Herbal Council
and also sits on the Acupuncture Steering Group
which was formed after facilitation days held by the
Department of Health.

Gillian Searson
qualified top of her class from the Acupuncture
foundation of Ireland where she studied under
Professor Jin Huide and Dr Wu Jidong, from the
University of Traditional chinese medicine, Nanjing.
She completed post graduate training in the first
affiliated hopsital in Nanjing under the guidance of
the renowed Dr Qiu Xian Ling, chief physician of the
acupuncture and moxabustion deptartment.
On returning to Ireland she continued her post
graduate training completing a diploma in Tui Na (chinese
medical massage) with Dr Meng of Lincoln University,
and a certificate in Chinese Patent Herbs with
Professor Jin Huide.
With a keen interest in emotional issues and
fertility (both natural and assisted), she became a
founding member of the Zita West affiliated Network.
Gillian continutes post graduate training with the
Academy of classical Chinese Medicine (ACCM) under
the guidance of the distinguished Daoist Master
Jeffrey Yuen.
She is a member of the AFPA and served as secretary
of the Board from 2008-09. In her role as secretary
she sat at the Acupuncture steering group which was
formed to enable Acupuncture become statutory
regulated in Ireland. Gillian also works as a
teachers assistant in the Acupuncture Foundation for
acupuncture point location.

....... Nancy Jiao Li studied Western
Medicine for four years before following her long
family tradition in Chinese Medicine.
After finishing her studies in China
she came to Ireland and enrolled in the Acupuncture
Foundation of Ireland where she spent a further 3
years studying under Professor Jin Huide and Dr Wu
Jidong both from Nanjing University of Traditional
Chinese Medicine.
Nancy has wide experience working in
TCM hospitals in Shengyang, China, working under her
father Dr Li, a world-renowned acupuncturist and
herbalist who has won medical awards in Europe and
America for his herbal formulas.
Nancy has acquired specialist training
from her father and practices techniques that are not
widely available in Europe including eye and abdominal
acupuncture. These protocols have been shown to
be highly effective in addressing long term chronic
conditions that have proven difficult to clear with
other specialist treatments.
Nancy has continued her studies since
graduating and has studied facial rejuvenation under
Virginia Doran.
As a result of her deep understanding
and lineage within TCM circles she is often called
upon by fellow acupuncturists for advice on difficult
cases.
She is currently a member of AFPA.
